Lymphatic drainage

This holistic approach has the ability to alleviate discomfort and proactively support overall breast health during breastfeeding.

What is lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic fluid, also known as lymph, is a clear liquid that moves through your body, collecting waste, excess fluid, bacteria, and unwanted cells. Lymphatic drainage massage is a form of very gentle massage that focuses on the drainage of lymph nodes and the movement of lymph around the body, helping your body clear out toxins and waste.

When lymph flows smoothly, it can ease swelling and inflammation. This is especially helpful for dealing with common breastfeeding problems like engorgement, blocked ducts, and mastitis where extra lymph fluid can build up in the breasts causing congestion and making it harder for milk to flow. By helping that fluid drain, lymphatic drainage can reduce inflammation, clear the congestion, and get milk flowing again – all while feeling more comfortable.

Lymphatic drainage massage has incredible benefits for breastfeeding: not only can it help to resolve these common problems, but by incorporating this massage proactively into your breast care routine it can help to avoid these problems in the first place, and help support your overall breastfeeding success.

How to use lymphatic drainage for:

Engorgement

Engorgement occurs when the breasts become overly full with milk, leading to swelling, hardness, and pain. Lymphatic drainage can help to reduce this swelling by promoting the movement of excess fluids and reducing the pressure within the breast tissue. This not only eases discomfort but can also help the baby latch better as the breast is not so firm.
